In Pittsburgh, the breakfast crowd peaks on Saturday and Sunday mornings, so a weekday visit or an early arrival avoids the line. Across Pennsylvania, regional staples show up on the menu: biscuits and gravy and chicken and waffles in the South, breakfast tacos and burritos in Texas and the Southwest, green chile in New Mexico, and Hawaiian plate breakfasts in the islands. Check the listing for hours, whether the restaurant takes reservations and its Google rating and reviews, and note that many diners are cash-friendly but nearly all take cards. Counter seating usually moves faster than a table for one or two.

Hours are published for 5 days a week. Typical hours are 8 am–8 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday, Tuesday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach The Pub Chip Shop at (412) 381-2447; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Pittsburgh is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Pittsburgh follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Everyone was wonderfully nice, especially Pirate and the chef with the awesome accent. We tried the fish, chicken, tots, and chips at the shop and everything was excellent. I also bought donuts that were tasty. But the star so far is the 4 meat pies we brought home absolutely amazing, old school classic deliciousness wrapped in pastry perfection. I wish they could ship them. They are worth driving from Ohio to get them. Thanks 😊

A friend recommended we stop in and we are so so thankful for the advice! Food was incredible and we will definitely be making a return trip. We got the fish on the bap. Fish was battered and crispy on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside. The bap? Just wow. Soft and fluffy and wonderful. We also got the brisket over mac and cheese, it's topped with fried onion rings. Macaroni was creamy and cheesy and the brisket was so tender, it was a perfect combo. And then there were the boxty tots! They're perfect little potato awesomeness. I reheated the leftovers for breakfast the following day. Now I am wishing we had ordered an extra side order of the boxty so I could have more at home the next day. I sure wish I lived closer.

Delicious food. Thai chicken boxty tots are my go to over here. We have only gotten here early enough to have the donuts once and they were excellent. They just have a couple of seats so it’s basically a take out counter.

***update Nov2023 (8 months since last post) The food quality has gone steeply downhill🫀🫀🫀, hence a downgrade from 4 to 2 stars. As in my original post, THIS IS NOT A PUB. THERE IS NOTHING BRITISH ABOUT THIS PLACE. Pub implies beer, which is not served here. Fish and chips, and meat pies in the menu DO NOT MAKE THIS PLACE BRITISH. Whether British or American, this place is NEITHER a bar NOR a pub, NOT EVEN a cafe as is described in Maps. There’s hardly any place to sit and eat (only 6 seats available!) In our most recent visit and 3 other occasions before, the FISH BATTER IS OVERCOOKED, though still edible. The beer flavor is not as prominent as before 😑😑😑. The FRIES, yes French fries NOT CHIPS BY BRITISH STANDARD, ARE VERY BLAND TASTELESS. British chips are rough thicker cuts of potatoes, not the factory perfect slender cuts, and are pre-seasoned before frying. The SCOTCH EGG IS OVERCOOKED as is evident by the very dark rim of the yolk that is dry hard. Real Scotch Eggs has a soft yolk. πŸ₯΅πŸ₯΅πŸ₯΅My Brit companions wept. Meat pies, which were distinctive and attracted us to this place originally, seems to be very scarcely available. In the last visit, it very peculiar that they
